ROIG ARENA PROGRESS
The progress of the site works for the Roig Arena already reveals the inner shape of the main court.
Roig Arena is a multi-purpose venue in Valencia (Spain). It is a large, covered space for sports and cultural events whose capacity accommodates up to 15,600 seats on basketball mode and 18,600 spectators on concert mode.
The building embodies a project where each discipline is solved with an international office along a local expert partner. GmásP was hired as a local partner for the structural design. We have worked from the earliest stages, accompanying the client from the conceptual design phase to the detailed design. Nowadays we are working on site supervision.
The structure is solved with in-situ reinforced concrete for the foundations, retaining walls and the vertical communication cores, structural steel, and precast plus reinforced concrete for the several floor levels. It is a complex building that requires singular solutions.
The collaborative work between the offices was awarded in 2019 by the SDE (Society of Digital Engineering) a part of CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) as the “Best Project and Collaboration” within the category of large projects to recognize the application of digital engineering which brings successful outcomes for projects and people.
