Restaurant in Murcia, 40 seats

PROJECT: Schematic Design, Concept Design, Detail Design
YEAR: 2024-2025
LOCATION: Murcia, Spain
ARCHITECTURAL, STRUCTURAL AND MEP DESIGN: GmásP
COLABORATOR: Soraya Ramos
At GmásP, we have designed the refurbishment project for a new restaurant in the very heart of Murcia.
The culinary and architectural processes share the same essence, where natural produce is cultivated, selected, and transformed into a gastronomic dish, and materials are crafted, shaped, and turned into architectural finishes. In both cases, the raw material is cared for and refined at every stage to achieve a unique, high-quality result.
The commission involved transforming the premises, located in a listed building, into an elegant and sophisticated culinary space that would not distract diners from what truly matters: the gastronomy.
The morphology of the premises determines the design, dividing it into two spaces separated by the building’s entrance hall.
The project embraces an elegant and sober character, defined by clean lines and soft lighting, a restrained colour palette combined with clay finishes and porcelain flooring—natural textures that create a welcoming atmosphere where each element interacts to enhance the dining experience.
Quality is expressed in every detail, from the careful selection of materials to the acoustic and lighting comfort, forming the foundation for an exceptional gastronomic experience.
On one side of the premises are the service areas, including a kitchen equipped for haute cuisine and optimised to ensure the best workflow. Next to it, a small show cooking area allows interaction between chef and customer, offering an immersive culinary experience.
On the other side lies the main dining room, a bright, open space with capacity for 40 guests, where the only interruptions to the visual continuity are three large iron pillars from the historic building, adding a distinctive touch to the space.
During the design process, we spoke of tradition, of the local farmland, of its irrigation channels, of clay and earth, and from this came the need to incorporate these elements into the design. This was achieved through a large lattice running the length of the space, adding texture and warmth, and evoking the traditional Mediterranean craftsmanship in a sober and elegant way.
This restaurant has been conceived as a stage where architecture and gastronomy merge. Every design decision—from the placement of tables to the choice of materials—aims to enhance the diner’s sensory experience.
At GmásP, we have transformed a space of great heritage value into a benchmark restaurant for the city, with an interior design that is elegant, functional, and fully adapted to the demands of haute cuisine
