Canopy for the elementary and secondary education courtyard

Under the motto “A Park for La Salle” GmásP have designed a Master Plan that improve the conditions in the outdoor areas of the building. The firs action carried out is the creation of a covered area for the elementary and secondary education.

The aim is to reduce the temperature, especially during the hottest months of the year. The requirements are: Creating a simple and quick-to-assemble system, as well as low impact on the historical façade.

A modular and repetitive system is proposed allow future growth. The system is composed of structural trusses in both direction where a fabric cover run through the structure interlacing at different heights in a zig-zag pattern.

During the design phase, a solar study is conducted to assess the system’s effectiveness.
