PROJECT: Industrial architecture, steel structure and Metalwork
LOCATION: Ain Sokhna, Egypt
TYPOLOGY: Framed and braced bolted steel structure. Welded and bolted ducts
DESCRIPTION: Filter support structure and process ducts
STRUCTURAL DESIGN: GmasP
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN: GmasP
The project consists on a steel structure support for a filter, including an intermediate level and an upper platform. An attached stair connects the different levels with the filter roof. The overall dimensions of the structure are 5.7x9m and a height of 10m up to the filter roof
The process gas ducts connect mill, filter, fan, stack and hot gas generator, including a recirculation circuit. The diameters of the ducts vary between 680mm and 910mm, and they are designed in spools of 6m maximum length, including flanges and joints. The design of the expansion joints is within the scope of the design. The maximum design temperature is 500º, so a special steel is used for this purpose.
The design includes a very slender 40m stack with 800mm diameter, which is provided with anti-vortex helical strakes.
